Die Kunsthalle Gießen präsentiert die erste institutionelle Einzelausstellung in Deutschland mit Hélène Delprat. Das Zitieren ist für das Werk der französischen Künstlerin Hélène Delprat zentral. Aus literarischen, (kunst)historischen sowie filmischen und popkulturellen Referenzen entwickelt sie ihren eigenen, abgründigen und exzessiven Kosmos, in dem das Humorvolle mit dem Düsteren und das Ornamentale mit dem Figürlichen verschmelzen. Ihre Werke, die neben Malerei und Zeichnung auch Objekte, Videos und szenographische Elemente umfassen, sprengen dabei etablierte Grenzen und schaffen neue Verbindungen und Möglichkeiten.

Hélène Delprat (* 1957 Amiens) lebt und arbeitet in Paris. Ihre Arbeiten werden in zahlreichen Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen international gezeigt, unter anderem im Museu Picasso in Barcelona (Herbst 2020) und im La maison rouge. Darüber hinaus sind ihre Arbeiten in bedeutenden Sammlungen wie dem Centre Pompidou und der Pinault Collection in Paris und dem MoMA in New York vertreten.

The Kunsthalle Gießen is pleased to present the first institutional solo-exhibition in Germany by Hélène Delprat. Quoting is central to the work of the French artist Hélène Delprat. She develops her own unfathomable and excessive cosmos from literary, (art)historical, cinematic and pop cultural references, in which the humorous merges with the gloomy and the ornamental with the figurative. In addition to painting and drawing, her work includes objects, video and scenographic elements in which established boundaries are broken down and new connections and possibilities are created.

Hélène Delprat (* 1957 Amiens) lives and works in Paris. Her work has been exhibited in numerous international solo and group exhibitions including the Museu Picasso in Barcelona (Fall 2020) and La maison rouge. It is part of various significant collections like the Centre Pompidou and the Pinault Collection in Paris and the MoMA in New York.
